About Us

The Yarrawonga~Waco Santa Gertrudis Studs are situated in Southern Queensland at Wallumbilla and Taroom. The Bassingthwaighte Family started the studs in 1954 by grading up with Santa Gertrudis bulls.

Alastair and Louise Bassingthwaighte with their family Wendy and Scott, David and Suzanne and Andrew and Fiona now operate the studs. Yarrawonga is the hub of the stud business for Show and Sale preparation, while 1000 stud breeders run on the properties Waco, Kiah and Kywong in the Taroom Wandoan area.

The largest and most successful Santa Gertrudis Sale in Australia is held at Yarrawonga annually in August when 200 bulls are offered.

Commercial cattle are bred and fattened on the properties Muldoon, north of Mungallala and Stockade, south west of Tambo. This keeps the Bassingthwaightes fully aware of the present commercial market demands and therefore the necessary seed stock needed.
