Yarrawonga Waco - Breeders Santa Gertrudis

Yarrawonga Waco Santa Gertrudis Studs are situated in South West Queensland at Wallumbilla and Taroom. The Bassingthwaighte Family started the studs in 1954 by grading up with Santa Gertrudis bulls.

Yarrawonga is the hub of the stud business for show and sale preparation, while 1000 stud breeders run on the properties Waco, Kiah and Kywong in the Taroom Wandoan area.

Queensland Country Life not only keep their finger on the pulse with what's happening in the country but also with the breeders of Santa Gertrudis.

The largest and most successful Santa Gertrudis Sale in Australia is held at Yarrawonga annually in August when 200 bulls are offered.

Yarrawonga Waco recently had their 49th Annual Bull Sale for 2008 with pleasing results. Despite the recent cool weather the winter winds kept there distance which made for a pleasant day at Yarrawonga.

Bulls sold from an average of $5,960 with the top price of $30,000. There were many familiar faces on the day with even the children taking part in the day's events. >>read more

A very successful day was had by Yarrawonga Waco at the 2008 Brisbane Show. Approximately 110 Santa Gertrudis led cattle were presented before judge Bill Dunlop from New South Wales. Yarrawonga Waco Santa Gertrudis Stud took out Senior and Grand Champion Cow, Reserve Senior Champion Cow, Reserve Senior Champion Bull, Junior Champion Bull, Junior Champion Heifer. >>read more
