The seed stock production business is very competive and very interesting. When the bull sale season comes around each year, I make a point of attending the majority of Santa Gertrudis sales in Queensland & New South Wales. The reason for this is; firstly, to see how the quality level of the breed is holding; secondly, to identify the studs that have improved their quality compared to previous years; thirdly, to note the type of replacement bulls various stud masters select and this helps assess their future potential genetics.
