New Sires

The seed stock production business is very competive and very interesting. When the bull sale season comes around each year, I make a point of attending the majority of Santa Gertrudis sales in Queensland & New South Wales.   The reason for this is; firstly, to see how the quality level of the breed is holding; secondly, to identify the studs that have improved their quality compared to previous years; thirdly, to note the type of replacement bulls various stud masters select and this helps assess their future potential genetics. This is simply doing homework.                                     ~ Alastair Bassingthwaighte

Canowindra Elroy

Canowindra Elroy

Canowindra Elroy

Purchased for $12,000 at the 2007 Canowindra Cardona Sale.  He has turned out to be one of the best value for money bulls we have ever bought.  The consistent muscle, depth of body, temperament and breed character is standing him in good stead to be one of the best performance bulls we have introduced into our herd.  2010 will see his first draft of bulls in the Yarrawonga Waco sale.

Yarrawonga Sherlock

With his excellent breed character, muscle and structural correctness, Sherlock is a chip off the old block.  His dam, Yarrawonga Nimble is without doubt Yarrawonga Waco's most successful show female, winning three Sydney Senior and Grand Champion ribbons, a feat that has not been repeated.  His progeny which will be represented in the 2010 sale, will display a team of powerful high performance bulls.

This is a bull that you are really going to have to look out for.  His breed character, softness, sheath, structure and temperament is exactly what the Yarrawonga Waco stud is looking for.  The calves that we have seen on the ground so far, seem to be mirroring Versatile's brilliance.

Dresemaine Uluru

Uluru was the top priced bull at the Barcoo Bull Sale in 2009, purchased for $20,000.  He was selected for his excellent sheath, length of body and outstanding muscle pattern.  He is a bull that you consistently have to push out of your way but is the real boss of his cow herd.
